Unresponsive customer service

Ordered a Vegan Calzone from UberEats, as I'm lactose intolerant.I didn't finish the dish as I was suspicious of the cheeses' uncanniness to normal mozzarella, the non-vegans with me were also suspicious.I started experiencing bad stomach cramps the same day along with my other normal side effects.Contacted Wildwood through their online form, with my email and number enquiring about the likelihood of the calzone having non-vegan cheese, but still haven't had a response. This happened almost 2 weeks ago.

We have had coffee and a snack at a Wildwood Gerrards Cross three times this week and each time have been greeted and served by lovely polite friendly staff. This is definitely a ‘go to’ place for us now, sit outside, lovely view with huge heated umbrellas - just in case!

Raw, wet chips ?

Sometimes the food at wildwood is heavenly. Sometimes. Most of the time it is absolutely awful. And while I do mainly visit one location, everything here applies to at least 4 locations I’ve visited over the last few years. The first time I ate here was in Stratford about 3 years ago and the meal was nice enough but the chips were raw. Like it was like eating a sliced raw potato. So I asked if they could replace them. Second batch. Raw potato again? I have no idea how they “cook” their chips at the Stratford branch but it’s gross. I didn’t want to ever revisit wildwood but in the end gave them another chance. They do a nice vegan burger (the burger is nice, not necessarily the salad or the gallon of mayonnaise they put in the burnt buns) and when out with friends or getting a takeaway I don’t have much choice. The garlic bread is often rock-solid inedible which is disappointing but I guess some people like their bread “crispy”, I dunno....The worst thing is that I’d say a good 70% of the time the chips are just raw. Some of them will be cold and taste like uncooked potato while others are burnt to a crisp. Occasionally the chips are gorgeous. It’s like some days they fry them and some days they’re just frozen oven chips. My girlfriend suggested maybe they cook the vegan chips in the oven but fry the regular chips so as to avoid cross contamination. Which might be the case but would then beg the question of why sometimes my vegan meal gets the same nice chips as my girlfriend’s meal... ? One time the chips were wet. I cannot emphasise enough that the chips on this occasion were literally dripping with water ?? I live 200m from wild wood and had to wait 10 minutes for my food on arrival. This wasn’t condensation in the bag from waiting. The chips were just wet. Not oil. Just sopping wet. Uncooked. Chips. Which prompted me to complain to Wildwood for the first time (like I say, my girlfriend likes the pasta here and the burger is a good brand name, I don’t have much choice round here!). I have not received an e-mail back or apology, have checked my junk mail diligently. And this was at least 2 weeks ago. Horrendous customer service from a chain restaurant to someone who orders food regularly and is disappointed In some way a good 70% of the time. Not surprised to see they only have 3 stars on trust pilot. Final straw tonight. Will just be making my own food on takeaway night from now on. I can cook McCain oven chips at home better than these clowns ?

Not good

Good: the garlic bread tasted really nice, but was small. The olives were nice but small portion. Bad: lasagne was dry, small and tasteless and half of it was stuck to the bottom of the tray. The penne pasta tasted ok but had very little sauce so was a bit dry. We got the impression the food was pre-prepared and reheated to order. Will not be ordering again.

Excellent service

After ordering a deliver via Uber eats, the driver spilt our food on the pavement so we refused it, we rang the restaurant to explain the driver was on his way back, they rang Uber and couldn’t sort it with them but replaced all our food free of charge even though they were not at fault. The manager at the Braintree branch was lovely and very helpful! Uber on the other hand had actually left our food all scooped up from the pavement on our doorstep!!!

Always fantastic food and service

Always fantastic food and service at a good price. We have really enjoyed getting it delivered to our home during lockdown and have always been very happy. When we were going into the restaurant the staff were always absolutely fantastic and if we have ever had any issues they have sorted them straight away.

Treated poorly because I couldn’t wear a face covering.

I walked in without a mask straight away asked by a polite man if I can wear one I explained I had asthma and showed my asthma pump and proof he was very understanding and completely made me feel comfortable not being judged or anything. I walked into the place we was seated I got a few stares (from not wearing a mask) felt very judged and as if I was being looked upon and straight away was very uncomfortable. We was seated all was good until the end the waitress said please can you put a face mask on I explained again that I can’t it was only Last week I had an asthma attack and had to go to hospital. She said okay because I told her before I had asthma and didn’t expected to be asked again! and then later on she explained that a couple who was sitting next to us had complained to her that I should be wearing a face mask and that’s why she had to ask again which I didn’t agree with because she knew I had asthma she could of said back to the couple she is exempt and has asthma. I felt very uncomfortable the whole time and very judged. I shouldn’t of felt like this because I have a medical health condition that stops me wearing a mask. Just because I can’t wear a mask does that automatically mean I’m not allowed to go out because I will be stared at and judged and for staff in resturants to look down on me too? People should understand I made it clear on my arrival I had asthma showed my proof so later on in the night I shouldn’t of been asked to wear one again especially because someone complained about me to the waiter! my friend who I was with was wearing a face covering so surely it was obvious I couldn’t! Not just the fact I didn’t want to! Very upset and it did ruin my evening too the fact people didn’t understand and judged me. Especially when the restaurant knew I had asthma and to be asked again is just shocking.

Went to the Epping branch today

Went to the Epping branch today. Average service, they managed to get the main course wrong for both of us. Food was very disappointing and poor value. How they can charge £7.75 for the Prawn starter is beyond me.Burger bun (that I didn't order) was burnt. It seems to me that they are taking advantage of the Government scheme for August and offering 2nd rate food for the lower price.I can't see them staying in business for too much longer unless they up their game.
